'Autumn Leaves'
GottesmanIn his human Autumn Leaves sculptures — the hundreds and thousands of flat, crying and laughing faces with their blunt expressions — Kadishman sharpens and gives new form to the sense of life's sorrow in his work. His unique and original approach to positioning sculptures and paintings relate to the earth. The ground everywhere, all over the world, is a large flat pedestal upon and in which he lays and positions sculptures without the mediation of a constructed base. And paintings do not have to be on walls. Kadishman's artistic approach stems from human life and from nature. He does not hint — he says: "there is no need for explanations, the works speak and penetrate into our hearts".
The joy and grief of life erupt and cry out from every work he makes.
